This funky fuzzy-looking plant is commonly known as Silky Oak but its Latin name is Grevillea robusta. The gorgeous detailed leaves on this plant create a delicate look, quite similar to that of a fern. Grevillea does sometimes flower when matured - they are petalless flowers which look a bit like the yellow "pins" on pincushion protea!
CARE FOR YOUR SILKY OAK: Grevillea really like the sun, but indirectly - so make sure you place this plant with plenty of light, but away from the heat. Silky oaks are evergreen plants that will continue to look good all year round if you make sure to only water them when the soil has dried out at least 2 inches down. They like a good drink, but need drainage, so make sure to allow water to flow through until it stops dripping when watering. Any pooling of water will cause the roots to rot. You can plant Grevillea outside and it will grow to be quite big, but if you want to keep it house-friendly, you may need to keep to a good pruning schedule.
